Raspberry Pi 5 AI Hat+ 2

The Raspberry Pi AI HAT+ 2 is an add-on board designed exclusively for the Raspberry Pi 5 that brings generative AI capability to edge computing applications. Built around the Hailo-10H neural processing unit (NPU), this expansion module features 8GB of dedicated on-board LPDDR4 RAM, enabling it to run large language models (LLMs) and vision-language models (VLMs) locally without relying on cloud processing. The HAT+ 2 delivers 40 TOPS (tera-operations per second) of INT4 inferencing performance, with computer vision performance comparable to the original Raspberry Pi AI HAT+ at 26 TOPS. It integrates seamlessly with Raspberry Pi 5's PCIe interface and is automatically detected by up-to-date Raspberry Pi OS images. The module integrates directly with Raspberry Pi's camera software stack, allowing rpicam-apps post-processing tasks to utilise the accelerator automatically. This makes it ideal for applications including offline process control, secure data analysis, facilities management, robotics, speech-to-text, live translation, and visual scene analysis. By processing data locally, the HAT+ 2 ensures data privacy, reduces latency, minimises cloud API costs, and enables reliable operation without internet connectivity.
