25 years ago we stored everyone's addresses in a single field. Over the years we have tweaked the structure here and there to make it easier to for our customers to use, but the time has come for a total overhaul. For most people, who have only a single billing and delivery address, not much will be different. However, users who have many addresses will definitely notice the changes.
The old system allowed you to add any number of addresses, and when an address was added, you decided whether it was to be the default delivery address, default billing address, or both. There was no checking of the validity of the address.
In the new system, delivery and billing addresses are managed separately in their own sections in the dashboard. When adding a new address using the dashboard or at checkout, we now use the NZ Post Address & Postcode Finder, which will automatically fill in the address and postcode. However, you still have the option of entering an address manually if you prefer.
We have overhauled how this works and now have a separate section in the dashboard to manage multiple contacts. You will always be the default contact until you add additional contacts. Any of your contacts can be set as the default contact, and any given contact can be used with any number of your addresses. Please note that there is no option to edit your original contact. That is done in the Account Details section of the dashboard.
When you come to checkout you will be able to select any of your contacts, and any of your addresses. To use a contact or address that is not the default, just click on the contact and/or address you want to use. You can also edit or delete any of your contacts and addresses from this screen as well.
